Sally Martin has possessed, since birth, the psychic ability to see into the supernatural ether surrounding all human civilization. Confused, and frightened, as a child... Sally eventually came to embrace her ability, not as a curse from god, as her mother tried to convince her it was, but as a mutation of brain science that gives her "The Sight!"
In order to keep the peace with mother, Sally avoids the topics of religion and her ability. But mother is now old and sick, and so... one last time... Sally agreed to go to church with her.
And here it is, like every time she was taken to church by mother as a child, bloodless supernatural warfare raging through the church as angels and demons punch and claw and wrestle and kill each other... right there among the unsuspecting congregation.
Oh, these people believe in their religion. They are fanatical Pentecostal Fundamentalist who are completely devoted to their causes. What would they say if Sally told them the subjects of their derision were real? Who knows what they might do.
And so, Sally will sit here until the service is done. This is the last time she will observe this WAR in this church. She is not interested in this WAR. Her focus is on the battle between the demon and the angel fighting for her mother's soul. So far, the battle is an evenly matched contest. But, Sally knows, one day one of these combatants will prevail... and mom's soul will go to the victor.
WAR is hell, or heaven!
Sally Martin sat in the church pew, unmoving and focused on the battle raging around her body.
Her mother finally convinced her to come back to church after a twenty year hiatus.
Even though Sally has implored her mother to realize that religion is the biggest scam on earth,
She still "sees" the raging battle between demons and angels intermingling with the congregation!
