Is a monstrously horrific joke with a horrifically bad delivery really a horrific joke at all?

Is the joke funny if a homicidal maniac dressed in a clown suit is killing you with a bloody machete?

It did not matter to Al English as his head was lopped off in a bloody mess... only the clown laughed!

Oh yea,  the clown cackled that murder by clown is a joke in itself... but, a dead man will never find the humor in his own murder... as the clown struck the still body again!
